Project Embroidery
Below is a list of individuals and organizations
who dedicate themselves to providing quilts for those in need. This is
an avenue for you to lend a helping hand. Dig through your stashes and
purge fabric that you KNOW you won't use and send it to someone who'll take it
and make a quilt for a dying baby or for a child who lost everything in a
fire. Send in those good test stitchouts so they can be turned into
quilt squares and sewn into a preemie quilts or a lap quilt to cover an elderly
persons cold legs due to poor circulation. If you don't have time to
gather your stash then donate some cash. I will personally deliver to
various organizations so they can buy thread, batting, fabric etc.
"Truckee Meadows Quilters", NV I'm a member of the "Truckee Meadows Quilters" in Reno and we make hundreds of quilts for the neonatal nurseries for the area hospitals. Any preemie gets one and if the baby doesn't make it , the babe is brought to the grieving parents wrapped in one of our quilts - and they get the quilt as a remembrance-whatever the outcome. That same group also makes hospice gowns for much of Northern NV. It's been a great way for me to meet new friends since we retired here 4 years ago- as well as a chance to give back.
The other groups I make quilts for were
Katrina( did 9) and then a group called the Children's Cabinet. NV has it's
problems with chronic gamblers and other addictives abandoning their
children. We see to it that every child thru Social Services gets a blanket
to call their own.
